Amazon bought Whole Foods and lowered its prices by nearly half. Awesome! Finally, no more overpriced foods that you could just buy elsewhere for nearly half the price! We will no longer be able to call Whole Foods “Whole Paycheck”. Today we’re going to talk about the merge of Amazon and Whole Foods.

If you don’t know, Jeff Bezos is the founder of Amazon which originally started out as a bookstore and eventually grew to having millions of different products. Whatever product you can think of I assure you they have it. I highly recommend you learn about how Amazon started. It’s quite the story.

With how affordable and efficient Amazon is, plus their purchase of a health conscious store “Whole Foods”, Jeff Bezos has to be more than just a businessman. Well, so I hope. So far based on the changes at Whole Foods it appears he may have a social conscience. Obviously it takes a bold, intelligent and somewhat selfish team to create a multi billion dollar business. Especially with the recent multi billion dollar decision to purchase Whole Foods. Yes of course, business is involved and it’s going to involve serious competition now. A great aspect to this competition is that other companies will now compete to offer more affordable organic produce! Hence Bezos possibly being a billionaire on our side. Whole Foods was originally considered a high class store gaining the nickname Whole Paycheck. I personally only knew of very wealthy people that could afford to shop there. I also knew employees that couldn’t afford to shop there, even with an employee discount. No joke. Whereas Amazon, they have items for just about every consumer at various competitive price ranges. By them purchasing Whole Foods, you immediately know they are going to open the market to a very large range of consumers by offering competitive prices.

This is kind of a big deal

Here’s an overly ambitious thought. If Amazon can successfully compete with other grocery stores by keeping Whole Foods more affordable, they will literally be changing the health of our world. Rates of disease could potentially go down. The health of our species is determined by the environments in which we live. More people will feel financially confident in purchasing healthy organic foods and ultimately follow healthier lifestyles.

The name Whole Foods has been built around the idea of healthy eating and living right into the minds of everyone. Just like how Mcdonald’s is known for being a cheap processed junk food place for the family to eat. Walmart, Kroger, Meijer, Target, Aldi, Costco, etc.. They are still just places to buy any kind of food, processed and some organic. Whole Foods was intentionally marketed to sell health foods. It’s right in the name, whole-foods. People will go into the store with the intention of buying healthy organic whole foods. They will have lower temptations of purchasing junk food which doesn’t happen at other grocery stores. As an example: When you walk into Aldi, they have healthy foods on one side and processed foods on the other side. We all know if we see that bag of chips, cookies, cake or a chocolate bar 3 ft away, we’re going to grab it. Plus, processed food companies are using manipulative advertising by coloring their packaging green and saying their foods are “natural” with ingredients consumers can’t even read. Um everyone, lead is natural too but you don’t see us eating it. Ultimately these “natural” processed foods still contain lots of unhealthy ingredients that cause degenerative diseases. That’s why it’s so important that Whole Foods is lowering their prices. Thanks to Jeff Bezos and everyone involved at Amazon. Let’s hope they continue to make Whole Foods an affordable family friendly health store. If they don’t, I will most certainly be making it negative videos about them :-).

Guess what the conspiracy theorists are already saying about this shift of ownership.

The end of organic foods is near!! Amazon buys Whole Foods in order to take over the world by owning the organic food industry! This is the end of organic foods forever!!!! Don’t forget the earth is flat!!! LOL come on guys, it’s just typical business competition. Billionaires own a lot of businesses and land. If you don’t like it, then start your own local organic business and grow it over time. You know, I don’t think some people understand the scale of things and all the opportunities available. Despite the merge of the two companies, they control less than 2% of the $800 billion dollar grocery industry. It’s not the end of the world :). Billions of dollars, BILLIONS. Having that much money gives you a lot of resources and room to play on this planet with others. I promise you, not everyone is in the Illuminati just because they have a lot of money. We live in an ever changing world my friends and we have to learn to adapt. Not all but some conspiracy theorists are afraid of change because they have to leave their comfort zones.

There is one thing I’d like to propose to Whole Foods before I continue.

Those on food stamps still struggle to purchase healthy food. A lot of them have food allergies and are disabled making it even more difficult to afford healthy foods. Whole Foods if you can, please find a way to offer additional discounts to those on food stamps. There are families out there that really need it and I know it’s up to us individuals to make good things happen. We need to develop a better fruits and vegetables program for food stamps.

My personal overly ambitious goal is to own the most organic farmland, hydroponic farms, herbs, vegetables and fruit trees in the world. It’s also my goal to make local foods as affordable as possible. Hopefully one day cut prices in half. The prices need to change because it takes a lot of fruits and vegetables to fill up. I guarantee people will eat larger quantities of healthy foods and still spend the same amount of money that they spend now if not more because they discover how good organic foods make them feel. Later on I’ll make a video for my subscribers to learn about how I’m working daily towards that goal.

Okay, now here’s what Amazon is doing so far now that they own Whole Foods.

I purposely waited a few weeks before making this video in hopes to cram in as much news as possible. I’m really not a fan of spamming short videos with minimal information.

The FTC and Whole Foods shareholders approved Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods for $13.7 billion dollars. This is the largest deal Amazon has ever made to purchase a company. It’s also the largest merger and acquisition for a grocery store in the United States.

Whole Foods shares went up by 28% once the purchase was announced.

Within the first day of owning Whole Foods, they dropped their prices by nearly 43% and plan to drop more prices of other products over time.

Amazon stated: “The two companies will together pursue the vision of making Whole Foods Market’s high-quality, natural and organic food affordable for everyone,”.

“Everybody should be able to eat Whole Foods Market quality — we will lower prices without compromising Whole Foods Market’s long-held commitment to the highest standards,”

Here are some price drop examples provided by Bloomberg.

  • Organic Bananas $0.99 to $0.69 per pound.
  • Non organic bananas $0.79 to $0.49 per pound.
  • Organic Gala Apples $2.99 to $1.99 per pound.
  • Organic Fuji Apples $3.49 to $1.99 per pound. (That a 43% price drop.)
  • Responsibly-Farmed Atlantic Salmon $14.99 to $9.99 per pound.
  • Organic Avocadoes $2.79 to $1.99.
  • Crunchy Almond Butter $7.99 to $6.99

The Whole Foods store on East 57th Street in Manhattan had orange signs saying “Whole Foods + Amazon”. They had the old price, new price and it also said “More to come”.

They will also be offering benefits to Amazon Prime Members in the 460 Whole Foods stores. Benefits such: AmazonFresh to locally deliver online purchased groceries, Prime Pantry for online groceries, and Amazon Lockers to return items and pick up online orders.

Some people suggest Amazon’s drone delivery service will reach our homes sooner now that they have 460 stores for local delivery. The drones won’t have to travel as far to deliver products. It’s more feasible now that they don’t have to worry about the drones running out of power from long distance travel.

Since Amazon purchased Whole Foods they have already seen an increase of shoppers by 25%. In Chicago, they gained 35% more shoppers. But I must say, it’s too soon to claim this increase will continue. Right now, people are just curious about the changes being made. I can tell you right now, it’s not going to be easy to change someone’s mentally programmed shopping routine. The prices and perks of shopping at Whole Foods needs to be good enough to give consumers a reason to rewire their brains for a new shopping routine. I’m curious to see what happens to the company in one to five years from now.

Well, that’s it for this video! I’m sure you can see why I waited to report the news about this.
